The specifications have been designed to help SMBs drive most value from email communication. Priced at $9.99/month per account, the new 1&1 Microsoft Exchange delivers 25GB capacity, the latest version of Outlook 2013, fully featured remote access to emails, mobile synchronization, as well as 1&1’s industry-leading levels of uptime, security, anti-spam and anti-virus protection. Email volumes worldwide continue to increase as more public and private sector organizations switch from offline to online correspondence. As a result, consumer expectations have also risen around how timely and professional small businesses handle emails. With this in mind, 1&1’s most recent hosted email package offers the very latest features for accessing, processing and archiving emails swiftly both in a desktop and mobile environment. The new 1&1 Microsoft Exchange package builds upon 1&1’s previous popular version with new functionalities across important areas of use. Priced at $9.99/month per account, users receive 25 GB mailbox quota, customizable email via one free domain name, better team working with sharable contacts, calendars and tasks, synchronized mobile email via Outlook Web Access (OWA) with touch optimization for tablets and smartphone devices, and offline access to email messages using OWA caching. The new version offers excellent integration of other MS Office applications and a highly intuitive user-interface. All email data is stored in 1&1’s own highly secure data center, and users benefit from 1&1’s expert levels of uptime, security, anti-spam and anti-virus protection. 1&1’s global backbone ensures that Microsoft Exchange packages offer high speed and robustness in sending and receiving business emails. 1&1 Microsoft Exchange uses a ‘cloud-based’ model meaning that users can scale their mailboxes up or down on a monthly basis with no lengthy contract, allowing them to adapt their requirements to workload or organizational needs, and only pay for what they need. While most companies today realize the value of business email, research shows that many SMBs are still using outdated email clients, and on-premise solutions at more risk to data loss. 1&1 advises all types of business to examine how their daily use of email is developing in relation to their business needs, and whether greater efficiency could help improve their bottom line. Many US companies could benefit from hosted email packages capable of enhancing email accessibility, email handling, and the level of security available to them. Since 2000, 1&1 has been at the forefront of promoting and driving the use of Web-based technologies for US small businesses. Having managed many thousands of Microsoft Exchange email packages, 1&1 leverages its global scale to deliver a high quality service to its customers. The company currently holds almost 12 million customer contracts worldwide and manages over 11 million domain names. As a result, 1&1’s new Video Maker tool enables a business to create audio-visual material they can publish on their website for a more persuasive sales approach. Within a few easy clicks, any level of user can create an online video from up to 20 images, and accompanied by a wide choice of royalty-free music. The feature is ideal for venues such as restaurants and hotels, or craftsmen who can showcase a portfolio of past work. Brochures are another important tool for many companies in assisting consumers with their search for products or services. If these brochures can be downloaded directly from the company website and printed, business owners save the time of fulfilling requests for information and save on the postage costs of sending these out. 1&1‘s new Online Brochure tool makes light work of creating such brochures. Within seconds, the user can combine images and text in a PDF to create a 32 page flip-brochure that their customers can view, save, print or share using buttons for Twitter, Facebook and Google+. While the majority of business owners today do recognize the value of attracting and conducting business with customers online, few are using their own website to collect feedback or research their customers‘ needs. Online surveys are an effective way to gain information in a number of areas such as customer satisfaction, effectiveness of their website, market research, demand for new offers, etc. 1&1 MyWebsite can help with its new Online Survey tool. The App delivers professional looking online surveys to be embedded directly within a company homepage. Users can select from different survey templates that can be easily edited and customized. A comprehensive report of results is provided online or emailed to the business owner in either PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel formats. These new Apps are further examples of how 1&1 actively advises small businesses on how to achieve a successful e-business strategy. 1&1 MyWebsite now offers more than 75 Web applications that can be integrated simply by ‘drag-and-drop‘ into a website design to add functionality across eCommerce, communication, social media, or business management. 1&1 MyWebsite has already the widest selection of Web applications for rapid integration than any other website creation package and will continually add to the number of Web applications available. From a study of more than 400 US adults, 29 percent have walked away from using or buying from a website due to fears of the level of security. The degree of consumer understanding of online dangers is high – 70 percent of Americans recognize that threats such as malware and viruses change by the hour. Smaller businesses with a website that uses hand-coding or open-source applications will benefit from being able to reassure online consumers that their website is well protected. Today, more transactions than ever are being conducted over the Internet, requiring consumers to input sensitive information, such as credit card numbers and identifiable data. 1&1’s “Website Attitudes Study” of 403 US consumers finds that consumers’ concern and expectations for website security are also increasing. In fact, 1 in 3 (33 percent) of those surveyed have either had their own, or know someone who has, had details lost or taken as a result of using a business website. Thus, it is perhaps unsurprising that there is an impressive level of consumer awareness nowadays for protecting their data while online. Some 80 percent of Americans understand that many websites that capture data (such as contact details or billing data) can be a target for cyber criminals, and 70 percent recognize that threats can change by the hour. Significantly, almost half of consumers (47 percent) believe small businesses are more of a target for malicious online activity when compared to larger stores. The concern, while perhaps off the radar of many small companies, is clearly inhibiting many consumers from fully supporting American small businesses. In fact, only 14 percent believe SMBs are fully protected online. Such an understanding clearly impacts consumer behaviour, with 29 percent having abandoned an online transaction or enquiry because they were worried about the security of their data. Additionally, 70 percent admit they are likely to spend more with a business that shows that it takes steps to enhance website security. The study also took a measure on what actions consumers would take should their personal data ever be compromised from a business website. Unsurprisingly, most expect to feel distressed and highly negative about a company as a result. More than two thirds (76 percent) of consumers anticipate sharing their experience with others, with 39 percent foreseeing social media posts, 30 percent willing to report it to the press, and 31 percent being likely to explore legal action against the business involved. There is clearly much potential for costly and long lasting damage to a business’s hard-earned revenue and brand reputation. As the majority of business websites now capture users’ data, every business on the Internet needs protection. The use of open-source applications and hand-coding can allow much customization for designs; however, security can be an issue. While websites built with vendor-managed templates, such as 1&1 MyWebsite, involve very little risk of being compromised by malicious activity, as they leverage a professional system to create, update and protect the design, hand-coded websites carry more risk. Mistakes as simple as forgetting to close parentheses when entering code, or not applying updates to open-source applications can help facilitate malicious activity from hackers. Thanks to a new service provided by 1&1 together with SiteLock, better protection is now easily available for such hand-coded websites. With the new feature from SiteLock (www.sitelock.com), 1&1 customers can scan their website for design vulnerabilities and stay informed about their online security levels. Through the end of the 2012, 1&1 will provide this security service free for one domain for the life of any new Web hosting or eShop contract. 1&1 SiteLock also comes with a shield icon that is displayed on the business’s website, showing hackers and customers alike that this site is protected. As a global leader among Web hosts, 1&1 is well placed to deliver a high quality service to its customers. The company currently holds over 11 million customer contracts worldwide and manages 11 million domain names. [1] 403 US adults surveyed by WIRED Magazine via electronic feedback formFaster Website Analytics with New 1&1 Mobile Apphttp://press.1and1.com/xml/article?article_id=1188Mobile analytics tool offers insights into the behavior of website visitors for small and medium businessesnospam@example.com (1&1 Internet Inc.)Mon 17 Dec 2012 00:00:00 +0100Small and medium businesses should regularly check the most important statistics behind their website. The success of marketing and advertising efforts can be measured by the number of site visitors and their perceived behavior. As a result, the experts at 1&1 Internet, who continue to provide their customers with tools necessary for successful Internet strategies, now advise website owners to regularly analyze their professional site. 1&1 customers can now access these Web statistics around the clock and from wherever they are. Available for free download from the iTunes store and Google Play, the 1&1 Insights App was developed for all Apple iOS and Android phones. Most small and medium businesses realize the necessity of having their own Web presence. However, how many visitors does the website attract? Which pages are most popular among visitors and which ones are hardly visited? On which days do additional advertising efforts work especially well and generate more traffic for the website? Self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs should make a point to regularly check the online success of their business and marketing. For Web developer and game entrepreneur Andrew Slattery (https://ironfistdesign.com), understanding his international clientele and where they were coming from was essential. “Through our analytics we noticed a large spike in traffic and in-game purchases from the Netherlands. In order to appeal to these customers who we would ordinarily lose due to a low bounce back rate in that region, we knew we had to translate images and core game elements into Dutch. The feedback was immediate and traffic continued to grow.” Additionally, Slattery realizes the value of analytics tools to help serve the growing demand of his business. “With the introduction of real-time tracking, you can stay informed of surges in traffic. Long term analysis and data can allow you to see if you need to upgrade to a higher package altogether to meet the projected future growth.” 1&1 MyWebsite offers more than 350 industry-specific designs. For many companies, such as physical therapists, hair stylists, bakers, pharmacists, gardeners or caterers, a computer is not in the center of their work. They rarely have the time to thoroughly analyze their website. The 1&1 Insights mobile app offers an ideal solution to these groups. Their websites’ statistics can easily be checked via smartphone or tablet, regardless of time or location. The 1&1 Insights app provides information about the number of website visitors, shows which pages are viewed most often and where those visitors came from. Animated graphics make it possible to view the figures for the past weeks, months or years. Just a quick glance at the phone is enough to see if running an advertisement or posting on Facebook directly influences the behavior of website visitors. The new tool is a further step in offering SMBs easy to use Internet solutions to support their business goals. Aside from MyWebsite, 1&1 offers support to improve your search engine ranking as well as personalized advice with experts on hand to help a business gain new customers through the Internet. The new 1&1 Insights mobile app is available for all 1&1 Internet MyWebsite and Web hosting packages and can be used at no additional charge. With this solution, 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server virtual machines can be restored by creating an image, or snapshot, of the current server configuration and database at any time. For example, if complications arise after installing new software, previously saved snapshots of configurations and databases can be restored. No modern business can afford extended downtimes of their IT-infrastructure. Manual server reconfiguration, among other inconveniences, can result in several hours of downtime when systems could be inaccessible. Such disturbances can have a lasting effect on a business with unhappy customers or loss of earnings as possible consequences. 1&1 Snapshot offers the necessary security precaution for such situations. The tool allows users to create an image of the current configuration and database from the 1&1 Control Panel within a few clicks. The snapshot of original configuration and database remains available until it is overwritten by a new snapshot no matter how many changes are made to the server. This is especially useful for customers who need to regularly test new software. The server snapshot is permanently saved by 1&1 for an unlimited period of time, and only if the operator creates a new image, will the old one will be replaced. Snapshot is available for all new 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server customers at no additional cost. Up to 100 applications have been included, many offering useful sector-specific functionality across areas including ecommerce, communication, social media, and daily management tasks. The development means that customers signing up for select 1&1 MyWebsite packages can enjoy more impact on the Web and satisfy the most demanding website visitors. 1&1 now provides new customers with a MyWebsite Plus or Premium package a solution for integrating popular and effective business Web Apps into their online presence seamlessly. For example, within a few clicks, a restaurant can now integrate a table booking application for its customers to use. The Web Apps are integrated within a MyWebsite, and remove the need for website visitors to be diverted away to external URLs. The applications mean that more business processes can be driven by a small business website. By integrating Web application ecommerce functionality from respected brands such as Amazon, PayPal Buy, Ecwid and eBay, a website can offer convenient and credible online retailing. The Web Apps are deployed effortlessly, by simply dragging and dropping the desired element anywhere on a website. Customer communication is also a vital process for every small business today. 1&1 MyWebsite now offers a range of applications such as Skype and Calendar Wiz providing new, modern ways to interact with customers. Furthermore, Web Apps such as Google+1, LinkedIn and Pinterest allow SMBs to make their professional websites more social media friendly. Online business management can be enhanced with apps including Slideshare, Website Translator and Statistics Summary. Importantly, 1&1 has worked hard to ensure that the most popular and trusted apps are on offer in each country of operation. Localized apps are on offer for both vertical business needs as well as general business management. For example, US restaurant customers are offered Open Table and Yelp Reviews Web Apps, while real estate agents can add Trulia Properties and Zillow configurations. A detailed explanation for every application option provides a helpful guide for users to select the most valuable choices for an individual business. “Research shows that consumer expectations for the websites they use are continuing to increase”, said Oliver Mauss, CEO of 1&1 Internet. “It is no longer a case of maintaining an online business card, but rather providing a complete, sector-relevant resource to interact and fulfill many more customer needs as conveniently as possible. Web Apps are a great means for a business to address more of its processes online”. Available from only $9.99/month, 1&1 MyWebsite offers industry-specific templates for over 200 business types and is ideal for small companies with either an outdated website or no website at all. With individual text, picture and design modules, any level of computer user can create a professional looking website in only a few minutes – without risk, as 1&1 offers a 30-day risk free trial. All 1&1 MyWebsite packages include one domain, 200 email addresses and unlimited Web space and data traffic. Mauss added, “Every business website must earn its keep. So far, smaller companies especially could only minimally benefit from this trend because they have not optimized their website for Google and other search engines - that is why they can remain almost invisible to potential customers on the Web. Very often, the main reason for this obstacle is the cost, as 1&1 Internet found out in a recent study. The provider has now responded to this and with 1&1 SEO Spotlight, has developed an affordable professional solution that can even help companies with a tight marketing budget to capture attention. The new 1&1 SEO Spotlight is not a pure analysis tool, but rather more of an interactive advisor. There is, for instance, an innovative keyword generator that automatically compiles the best search terms. In order to adapt the keywords in the source code of a website (“meta elements”) for the search engine, all that is required is to simply enter some business data such as a company’s name, industry and desired advertising region. Optimizing the website’s content is equally easy with step-by-step instructions to assist users. Aside from content, the number of relevant links - meaning websites matched by theme as ranked valuable by Google, is the most important criteria for a good search engine ranking. The new 1&1 SEO tool focuses on several points at once. First, it gives handy tips for a useful back-link strategy. Second, it offers support for creating a Google Places entry. Business owners can also keep an eye on their two main competitors. To help keep ahead on the Internet, the user can submit the competitor Internet address into the system and watch the development of their competitors’ rankings in relation to their own. An interactive user interface makes it possible to have a website’s optimized success displayed as graphs for different time periods. In addition, 1&1 delivers statistics listed in tabular form. All data (including SEO level, keyword ranking and weekly comparisons) are updated regularly and, if desired, will be available via email. “Prior to the development of 1&1 SEO Spotlight, there has been extensive market research,” says 1&1 CEO Oliver Mauss. “We found out that most solutions miss the mark on the needs of many small and medium businesses. With our new SEO tool, for the first time there is an offer that fully considers the requirements of beginners and can be used without programming knowledge”. The latest development is a further step in the marketing initiative 1&1 started last November. The aim is to create equal opportunities on the Internet with the help of search engines. The new solution is included in the 1&1 MyWebsite Plus package (available for $19.99/month) or can be purchased for as little as $9.99 per month with all 1&1 shared Web hosting, eShop, Dedicated Server, Dynamic Cloud Server, or other MyWebsite packages. There is a free 30-day trial period. In an era when consumers rely on around-the-clock e-commerce and online banking, more Americans than ever are being frustrated by websites that are faulty or taken off-line during the night for maintenance to be performed. A key finding is that 58 percent of consumers have decided to avoid a company in the future as a result of finding a faulty website. Some 68 percent of US users are more critical towards website errors today than they were five years ago. As a result, 1&1 advises US firms that choosing a robust hosting provider has never been so important. 1&1’s ‘US Reliability Survey’ of 1,340 consumers finds that 65 percent of US Web users are still regularly inconvenienced by faulty websites. Over half (58 percent) see large variations in the reliability of the websites which they use. America’s Top 5 ‘Common Website Faults’ as found by Web users are: 1. Slow running websites (65 percent) 2. Significant differences in Web page loading times (58 percent) 3. Broken website pages (42 percent) 4. Web addresses that lead nowhere (34 percent) 5. Online orders not processed (32 percent) Website faults such as these have led more than 1 in 3 (58 percent) to decide not to use a company again as a result of its faulty website. Frustrations with a business website have led 72 percent of Web users to abandon a company website for a competitor’s. While most website owners aim to schedule maintenance and upgrades at traditional down times to minimize disruption, it appears this has done little to appease almost a third of consumers (28 percent), who feel regularly inconvenienced by the issue. Interestingly, most respondents (49 percent) believe that websites for small and large companies are equivalent in terms of frequency of errors. 68 percent of Americans are more critical towards website errors today than they were five years ago. During that time, 56 percent believe that they have become better able to judge whether a website contains faults. Nearly half of Americans (42 percent) report that they regularly feel anger, worry or stress as a result of using a faulty website. The most worrisome aspect is doubts over whether an online transaction has been completed properly, with 58 percent having been affected. Oliver Mauss, CEO 1&1 Internet, inc., said, “Unreliable websites continue to reflect badly upon businesses of all types and sizes. It is clear that when faced with a faulty or off-line website, consumers will turn elsewhere. Perhaps more surprising is the proportion that will be unwilling to return. With this in mind, businesses must ensure their websites are well designed, have robust functionality, and benefit from the most reliable Web hosting infrastructure available to them.” 1&1 Web hosting uses geo-redundancy to help enhance the reliability of its customers’ websites. All data and processes are mirrored and operated synchronously in different data centers. If there should be any unexpected problems at one of the locations, such as an electricity or failure, all upcoming processes are automatically taken over by the other data center – meaning maximum protection from downtime. 1&1 carries out updates and planned maintenance work without any disturbance to servers by switching between the two identical platforms. Thus, 1&1 websites will not become unavailable as a result of hosting maintenance. Graham Jones, Internet Psychologist, advises, "Users of your website are less likely to return if your site breaks or doesn’t work properly. People get frustrated by slow loading and by the addition of technologies that work only in certain circumstances. If you have shopping carts or other ‘add-on’ services, test them and test them again to be sure they cannot break or cause problems. Similarly, if you have forms – make sure they work.” 1&1 Web hosting packages, currently available from $3.99/month for the first 12 months (regularly $4.99/month), also benefit from high connectivity via the company's own global backbone. Recent research commissioned by 1&1 concluded that consumers appreciate faster business websites. As a global leader among Web hosts, 1&1 is well placed to deliver a high quality service to its customers. The company currently holds over 11 million customer contracts worldwide and manages 11 million domain names. Websites, Web hosting, and Web marketing. Easy as 1&1. Find more at www.1and1.com. From now on, configurations for all essential performance features such as CPU or RAM can be scaled hourly as needed. For small and medium businesses, the innovation of such flexibility with server resources allows them to manage their IT needs just as efficiently as major corporations who leverage such tools for long-time success. This lowers the costs of small business IT and enhances the competitive nature of the market. 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server (DCS) offers users a virtual server environment with full root access. The innovative aspect of this model is found in the adaptability of each machine’s basic settings that can be changed to suit users’ own needs over time. It is also possible to switch between either a Linux or Windows operating system. 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server can be a sophisticated alternative for companies whose resource requirements change frequently or for start-ups that cannot accurately estimate how much computing power they will need for their online project. If a company using a traditional dedicated server requires an increase in computing power, significant time and resources are needed to change configurations over to a new machine. 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server eliminates such a time consuming process by enhancing usability and accessibility. If, for example, a promotional campaign or one-time project attracts more website visitors than usual, this cloud server would allow the performance parameters to be increased with the help of an intuitive slider for expanding computing power up to 6 cores, 24 GB RAM and 800 GB of hard disk space. An upgrade or downgrade to a server would be complete in less than five minutes. For users whose online projects require the capacity of a more than a single cloud server, 1&1 offers a multi-function virtual infrastructure. That means that up to 99 virtual machines can be added to an existing contract and ordered conveniently via the user’s 1&1 Control Panel. After setup, users can configure each Dynamic Cloud Server as usual, with individual capabilities to start, stop, reset or delete them. Managing and monitoring the server on-the-go is also not a problem. 1&1 provides you with mobile apps for the DCS that can be downloaded for free via the following links: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1-1-mobile-monitoring/id409369112 http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cloud-server-management/id392277406?mt=8# https://market.android.com/details?id=com.oneandone.mobile.monitoring.server https://market.android.com/details?id=com.unitedinternet.cloudserver 1&1 mobile server apps can be used with all current iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices as well as mobile phones running the Android operating system. Technically, 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server is based on the Xen virtualization platform. The modern high-performance data centers of 1&1 provide excellent high network connectivity, the optimal infrastructure for product innovation. Multiple redundant systems are in place along with comprehensive measures to protect against power outages, loss of data, cyber-attacks and external hazards such as water or fire. Such measures were developed to guarantee 1&1 users maximum availability, 365 days per year. 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server is currently available from only $49 per month. The base price includes a processor core, 1 GB of RAM and 100 GB of hard disk space. Each additional processor core, GB of RAM and 100 MB of hard disk space costs only 2 cents per hour. Packages ordered in March will receive three months free per cloud server contract. Websites, Web hosting, and Web marketing. Easy as 1&1. Find more at www.1and1.com.
